Boone Sneaks Into Cashman's Office, Tries on Championship Rings
NEW YORK — Yankees manager Aaron Boone was discovered Tuesday evening in general manager Brian Cashman's darkened office, seated at the desk with four championship rings on his fingers and one on his thumb, sources confirmed.
"He wasn't doing anything else," said a security guard who declined to be named. "Just kind of holding his hand up to the light."
Boone, who has managed the Yankees since 2018 without winning a title, reportedly told security he had entered the office looking for a stapler. No stapler was found. The rings, which span Cashman's tenure as GM, were arranged in a velvet tray that Boone had allegedly opened, handled extensively, and then partially closed.
Cashman declined to comment. Boone held a brief press conference Wednesday morning in which he described the previous evening as "a private moment" and said the team remained focused on October.
